It was a painful Thanksgiving night for Deron Williams.
First, Williams watched the Utah Jazz practice, sitting out as a precaution while recuperating from having an ingrown toenail removed early in the week.
Second, Williams had to face the latest round of questions about his rivalry with Chris Paul, whose New Orleans Hornets visit EnergySolutions Arena tonight.
Judging from Williams' expression, the inquiries about Paul were far more painful than his sliced-and-diced toe.
Asked if he was tired of questions about the on-court rivalry between the two young point guards, Williams said, "Yup. You know I am. I'm sure he is, too."
Because he was the No. 3 pick in the 2005 draft - one spot ahead of Paul - Williams was asked if he feels the two players will share a unique link as long as they toil in the NBA.
"Pretty much," Williams said, "because [the media] won't let it go."
Of course, there's another reason behind the ongoing fascination over the Williams-Paul relationship.
Both are emerging All-Stars who, along with No. 5 pick Raymond Felton, eventually could make their draft one of the best in history for point guards.
