SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs today announced that Francisco Elson has suffered a blow-out fracture of his left eye orbit. The injury occurred on August 19 in a game against Belarus when Elson was stuck by an errant elbow.
Elson was examined earlier today in San Antonio. He will have surgery within the next week. Elson is expected to be able to resume limited basketball activity one week after his surgery. Elson should be cleared for full contact by mid to late September. The injury will force him to wear a protective face mask throughout the 2007 preseason.
