August 9 – Day 4 of Basketball without Borders in Paris started with a seminar led by Orlando Magic’s Bo Outlaw and San Antonio Spurs Don Newman on the importance of character and the qualities of being a leader. The talk focused on taking responsibility on and off the court, teamwork and respect. “No-one is perfect,” coach Newman told the campers. “So don’t get down on yourselves because you believe that. People put pressure on themselves to be the perfect player and they drive themselves crazy. They don’t want to make a mistake. You can’t play like that and you can’t live like that.” Bo Outlaw stressed the importance of working as a team “You need five guys in their assigned roles to win. You’re a team. You need your teammates to win a game.”
